Apple to Require Employee Proof of COVID-19 Booster: Report

Citing internal emails, The Verge reported Saturday that Apple will require proof of COVID-19 booster shots from retail and corporate employees.

Starting Jan. 24, employees who have not been vaccinated or who have not submitted proof of vaccination will be required to take a negative COVID-19 test to enter an Apple workplace, the report said. The Verge said it was unclear whether the testing requirements would apply to both corporate and retail employees.

“Because of the diminished efficacy of the main series of COVID-19 vaccines and the emergence of highly contagious variants such as Omicron, booster shots are now part of timely COVID-19 vaccinations to prevent serious illness,” according to The Verge, the memo has been read.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

As the Omicron variant has increased infection rates across the country, many companies in the U.S. have been tightening their COVID-19 rules, mandating vaccinations and delaying return-to-work plans.

This week, Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms made COVID-19 booster shots mandatory for all employees returning to the office. It also delayed the reopening of U.S. offices to March 28 from the previous January 31.

Diljit then sang a song on Guru Nanak, as PM Modi listened intently, beating the adjacent table like a dholak, matching his beats with Diljit’s.
